D\u00e9sormais, c\u2019est au tour de Paris de recevoir son exposition itin\u00e9rante <em>The Soul Trembles<\/em>, constituant sa premi\u00e8re monographie en France.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>N\u00e9e en 1972 dans la pr\u00e9fecture d\u2019Osaka, elle grandit dans la solitude et trouve tr\u00e8s t\u00f4t refuge dans l\u2019art. Ce sont ses ann\u00e9es d\u2019\u00e9tudes \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 des beaux-arts de Kyoto Seika qui marquent un tournant d\u00e9cisif dans son processus cr\u00e9atif. L\u00e0-bas, les codes traditionnels et stricts de la peinture et du dessin l\u2019\u00e9touffent : \u00ab <em>J\u2019avais l\u2019impression que tout ce que je cr\u00e9ais avait \u00e9t\u00e9 fait. Il n\u2019y avait pas d\u2019\u00e9motion, c\u2019\u00e9tait juste de la couleur sur une toile<\/em> \u00bb confie-t-elle lors d\u2019une interview pour <em>Le Grand Palais<\/em>. C\u2019est alors qu\u2019elle d\u00e9couvre le fil de laine. Un mat\u00e9riau simple, \u00e9tirable \u00e0 l\u2019infini, dont elle s\u2019empare telle une tisseuse pour cr\u00e9er une nouvelle forme de dessin et s\u2019extraire des limites de la toile.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>D\u00e8s 1999, elle quitte son Japon natal pour vivre en Allemagne. Elle se forme aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de Marina Abramovi\u0107 et Rebecca Horn, deux grandes figures de l\u2019art contemporain utilisant la performance comme forme d\u2019expression. C\u2019est \u00e0 leur contact, qu\u2019elle va mettre en sc\u00e8ne son corps, \u00e0 la fois comme m\u00e9dium et sujet, pour explorer des th\u00e8mes universels comme la m\u00e9moire, la connexion et l\u2019existence. Toutefois, lorsque son cancer des ovaires, vaincu en 2005, r\u00e9cidive en 2017, la vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 de son propre corps s\u2019impose brutalement \u00e0 elle. Entre traitements \u00e9prouvants et interventions chirurgicales, une question la hante : \u00ab <em>Mon \u00e2me est avec mon corps. Si mon corps dispara\u00eet, mon \u00e2me dispara\u00eet-elle avec lui ? Combien de temps peut-elle rester pr\u00e8s du c\u0153ur ?&nbsp; <\/em>\u00bb peut-on lire sur les murs de l\u2019exposition. C\u2019est cette sensation de rupture entre son \u00e2me et son corps, et l\u2019incertitude qui est \u00e0 l\u2019origine de l\u2019exposition <em>The Soul Trembles.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Ainsi, c\u2019est \u00e0 travers sept installations \u00e9tendues sur plus de 1200 m\u00e8tres carr\u00e9s, domin\u00e9es par des fils entrecrois\u00e9s dans des tons monochromes \u2013 rouge, noir et blanc \u2013, que l\u2019artiste invite le public \u00e0 contempler ce qui d\u00e9passe le visible. Par des r\u00e9seaux de fils emprisonnant une multitude d\u2019objets ordinaires \u2013 valises, barques, pianos, chaises, chaussures, cl\u00e9s \u2013, elle les transforme en t\u00e9moins silencieux de l\u2019absence de ceux qui les ont utilis\u00e9s. Suspendus entre pass\u00e9 et pr\u00e9sent, ces objets deviennent alors des symboles poignants de la fragilit\u00e9 de l\u2019existence et de la r\u00e9silience de l\u2019\u00e2me. La densit\u00e9 de ces \u0153uvres, qui engloutit le regard, pousse le spectateur \u00e0 regarder au-del\u00e0 des apparences : lorsque l\u2019\u0153il ne voit plus, c\u2019est le c\u0153ur qui commence \u00e0 percevoir. Agr\u00e9ment\u00e9es de sculptures, de dessins, de photographies et de vid\u00e9os de performance, l\u2019\u00e2me de Shiota semble flotter dans cet univers suspendu.<br>Son passage au Grand Palais marque donc incontestablement une \u00e9tape cl\u00e9 de sa carri\u00e8re. <em>The Soul Trembles<\/em> s\u2019impose comme une exp\u00e9rience r\u00e9flexive sur ce qui nous unit, ce qui nous fragilise et ce qui nous rend profond\u00e9ment humains.
